Foundations

Foundations are the first skills we teach. They form the foundation for other skills, cues and behaviors.   Foundations also serve multiple purposes and build upon each other, combine and grow into very meaningful behaviors.

A key foundation for a "reactive" case is knowledge. This is one of the essential components of success.

​

Reactive cases allow us to create some fun interactions with behaviors that are easy for your dog to learn. These foundation skills:

  • reinforce a closed mouth near hands

  • create a positive association with hands

  • help move your dog through space

  • work with loose leash walking to create an unstructured heel

  • function as an alternative "come!"

  • are easy - anyone can do them
