Nosework

Why Us?
We are a group of certified and qualified professional dog trainers who are experts in teaching nosework. We follow the NACSW way of teaching nosework, which is applicable to enrichment work as well as all levels of competitions through NACSW, AKC and UKC.
Where We Teach
Where we teach depends on your goals and your dog's unique personality and confidence. We can teach at our place or yours. As your dog grows in confidence and ability, we can expand to outdoor searches, automobiles, and advanced hides such as underwater!

About Nose Work

K9 Nose Work® is a fun and engaging activity inspired by professional detection dogs. It taps into a dog’s natural hunting and scenting instincts, providing both mental stimulation and physical exercise. Our program is built on the foundation of positive reinforcement, making it an ideal choice for dogs of all temperaments, including those who may be fearful, reactive, or aggressive.
Private Sessions for Special Needs Dogs
Recognizing that every dog has unique needs, Wiggle Butt Academy is offering specialized private sessions tailored for dogs who may feel uncomfortable in traditional training settings. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment where fearful, reactive, or aggressive dogs can unleash their most powerful scenting abilities and gain confidence through positive reinforcement techniques.

Supplies
If you are interested in purchasing nosework supplies, here are some helpful links. It's not necessary to purchase these items, but if you'd like to, these are our recommendations:
This is the Nosework Scent Kit we will be using. It’s expensive. You don’t need to buy one, but we wanted to share the link just in case you do!
Boxes: if you like to use clean boxes, this brand makes small inexpensive options.
Tins with Magnets: we will be using these with odor.
Tins with No Magnets: we use with odor and museum putty for non magnetic surfaces.
Cones with Holes: these are fun to do set ups because it traps the odor in from the sides so the odor escape up. These are a great learning tool.
Cones with No Holes: these will trap and semi-mask the odors. This is a progression from cones with holes.
Magnets: when it’s time to get creative with hides, we use magnets! This is an optional buy but if you decide you want them, also get some museum putty. Museum putty lets us put things on walls or non-magnet friendly surfaces.
Lids: we use these kind of like the tins in primary (food) searches for not magnetic surfaces
